dependent clause역할을 하는 부사절(adverb clause)은 주절(independent clause)과 긴밀한 관계를 가지고 있는데,

그 관계를 분류해보면,

1. 이유(reason)를 나타내는 접속사, because 또는 since를 사용하는 절

2. 대조(contrast)를 나타내는 접속사, although 또는 whereas를 사용하는 절

3. 조건(condition)을 나타내는 접속사, if 또는 as long as를 사용하는 절

4. 시간(time)을 나타내는 접속사, when 또는 while을 사용하는 절

5. 목적(purpose)을 나타내는 접속사, so that을 사용하는 절

6. 비교(comparison)을 나타내는 접속사, as 또는 -er than을 사용하는 절로 나눠볼 수 있습니다.
